ABOUT THE PONTEFRACT WEBSITE

By now the majority of visitors to the Pontefract website, which first appeared in March 2005, will be aware that it is in independently produced website, without financial funding or support from any source. The entire content of the Pontefract site has been contributed by our visitors or directly as a result of our production and publication of the now sadly defunct Pontefract Digest Magazine from March 2005 through to October 2007.

The fact that all this has been achieved without any token of support from within the district of Pontefract itself is testament to the dedication and devotion of all those who have become involved with it or who have contributed to it in some way over the past two and a half years. Whilst we have managed to overcome the fact that the website receives no support from the community, we were unfortunately unable to safeguard the future of what was undoubtedly the best local publication ever to appear on behalf of the town.

The website itself continues to evolve and as new lessons are learned so they are incorporated in an effort to make the site more aesthetically pleasing and easier for our visitors to navigate. At times it has perhaps been a bit too confusing but we hope that hasn't distracted too much from your enjoyment.

We are always interested in receiving your articles, letters and photographs concerning the town of Pontefract for publication and display on this website and so if you feel you would like to contribute in any way please don't hesitate to contact us. We will continue to make items of local interest available to all our visitors for as long as there is sufficient interest and providing the website receives the support it requires to enable us to do so.
