13th February 1942
GIRLS CONTRIBUTION

The choir of the Willow Park Senior Girl's School, Pontefract, has received a letter from Mrs Churchill thanking the members for their contribution of £1-12s-6d. to the Red Cross Fund.

PRISONER OF WAR

Mr. Gerald Booth, of Hartley Park, Pontefract, who was reported missing over Germany, is now stated to be safe. It is understood he landed by parachute, and is now a P.O.W. in Germany. Before he volunteered for the R.A.F. he was on the staff of Messrs Croysdale, Whitley Bridge.

BLOOD DONATIONS

Nearly 300 pints of blood were given when Pontefract was visited last week, by a squad of the Naval Branch of the Blood Transfusion Service. The transfusions were taken at the A.R.P. First Aid Post, Micklegate, and satisfaction with the result of their visit was expressed by the doctor in charge of the party.
