PONTEFRACT IN 1942

24th April 1942
New Stationmaster

Mr. F. Whitehouse, clerk at Cross Gates Station, has been appointed stationmaster at Baghill Station.

Entertainment

An entertainment was given at the County Institution, Pontefract, yesterday week, by a party of young people of the Micklegate Methodist Church, Pontefract, under Mrs Parker. The plays and singing were much appreciated by the inmates and patients, and Mr. James Shaw, J.P., thanked the artists for their effort.

Long Evenings

Long evenings are here, and it is impossible to travel far because of restricted transport and lack of petrol. "Uncle Frank's" Amusements, in the Fairground, offer alternative entertainment on the doorstep. Those who cannot use their own cars are invited to ride on Uncle Frank's vehicles which will be " travelling " in accordance with the time-table in the Public Notices in this issue.
