Railings To Go
Pontefract
is shortly to suffer the removal of any unnecessary iron railings, posts
and chains, and similar decorations, as a contribution to the provision
of metal for guns and other war materials.

Mrs
F. Lawson, who lives with her father, Mr. A. Killingbeck, at Baghill
View, Pontefract, has received the welcome news that her husband Sapper
F. Lawson, who was reported missing in the Middle East since June 5th,
is now a P.O.W. in Italy. Before he joined the forces in June 1940, he
was employed by the late Mr. R.K. Poskitt, of Beal. He belongs to a
well-known Whitley family.

Italian Hands
Mrs
M. Clegg, of Box Lane, Pontefract, has received notification that her
husband Lance Corporal Douglas Clegg of the East Yorkshire Regiment, who
was posted missing on June 4th, is known to be a P.O.W. in Italian
hands. Before joining the forces 2 ½ years ago, Lance Cpl Clegg, who is
24 years old, was a clerk on the L.M.S. Railway, and a member of the St
John’s Ambulance Brigade. He has a 10-month-old daughter he has not
seen. His father is also in the Forces.
