PONTEFRACT IN 1942

2nd October 1942
A Prisoner Of War

Official advice has now been received by his family that Gunner Edward Bedford of the Heavy A.A. Regiment and of Willow Park, Pontefract, who, as already reported in the Express, has been missing since June 20th, is now known to be a Prisoner of War though his address is unknown.

Another Successful Dance

A dance in aid of the Mayor’s Infirmary Fund was held in the Assembly Rooms, on Saturday. Many new tunes were tried by Mr. H. Ivimey with the band of the Yorkshire and Lancashire Regiment, and vocalists of the A.T.S. also contributed towards the entertainment.

Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival was celebrated at the Halfpenny Lane Methodist Mission, Pontefract, on Sunday. Harvest hymns were sung with Mrs Clitheroe at the organ. The mission hall was attractively decorated with fruit, flowers, and corn by Mr. A. Marshall. There was a good congregation.
