NOT
FORSAKEN
"It
is our business to have faith in God", said the Reverend H.T. Hood
in a short address at a Watchnight service at the Congregational Church,
Pontefract, on New Year’s Eve. "During 1942", he added,
"we must have felt that God had forsaken us, but judging by the
turn of the tide in the world affairs he had not. The Russians, who were
being saved from their enemies, had faith."
Prayers
were offered, and the customary end-of-the-year hymns were sung.
