PONTEFRACT MAN PRISONER OF WAR

Lance Corporal G. Atkinson, whose home is at 5 Reams Terrace, Pontefract, and who was reported missing on October 9th, is now a Prisoner of War in Stalag 344, Germany. He joined the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in June 1940, and after landing in North Africa, served throughout the campaign in Italy until taken prisoner. Before the war he was a conductor on the B&S Bus Service.
