PONTEFRACT IN 1945

2nd March 1945
A SOLDIERS DEATH

More details concerning the death of Bombardier Thomas Madden, of Colonel’s Walk, Pontefract, have been received. A friend of his writes that during an attack to take a Burmese village, Madden’s Company had to cross a 300 yards clearing, under a lot of small arms fire, from bunkers in front of the village. Bombadier Madden was killed instantly and was later buried with full military honours.
