PONTEFRACT IN 1945

LIBERATED BY RUSSIANS

Mrs E. Redsell of Holmes Chambers, Market Place, Pontefract, has received official notification that her husband, L/Cpl Eric Redsell, East Surrey Regiment. who has been a prisoner of war since 1940, has been liberated by the Russians, and is now in Allied hands. He was captured in Belgium in May 1940 and has been in Stalag 20A, in Poland. Cpl Redsell will return home as soon as possible. A Gravesend man, he served seven years in the Army before the war; was discharged, and then recalled in August 1939.
