CORONATION EVENTS
Petty
Officer G.R. White, an instructor at a Naval signal establishment, is
among those forming part of the Naval contingent for the Coronation
parade in London. At present serving on a regular engagement, he is the
eldest son of Mr. and Mrs R. White, of Willow Park. His wife, who is the
eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs Kendrick, lives with their three children
at Queen Street, Pontefract.
CORONATION
CONCERT
The
All Saint’s Church House, Pontefract, was filled to capacity on
Saturday for a Coronation concert arranged by the choirmaster, Mr. T.
Brewster, and given by about 30 adult members of the church. A one-act
comedy entitled "Blatherwicks Diplomacy" and scenes and songs
from "Merrie England" comprised the enjoyable programme.
Thanks to Mr. Brewster, the performers and helpers, were expressed by
the Vicar, Reverend B.C. Garcia. Earlier, tea was served to a gathering
of about 80, by members of the Mother’s Union.
ROYAL
SALUTE
Sergeant
Jack Warren Birkby, R.A., who is stationed in Hong Kong, has written
home to say that his battery has been selected to fire the Royal Salute
for the Coronation. Sergeant Birkby’s home is at Monkhill Drive,
Pontefract.
