Thinking Big

Thirteen-year-old John Littlewood, of ‘Barwood’, Baghill Lane, Pontefract, owns an hen which has big ideas. It has laid several eggs with double yolks and on Saturday it presented its young master with one weighing five ounces and bigger in size than the average duck egg. The hen is one of eight, which John bought with his own money and which he looks after himself, but none of its run mates is its equal where the question of paying for its keep is concerned.
