Meeting for Missions
A
meeting of missions at home and abroad, was held in the Parish Hall,
Pontefract, on Monday. Arrangements were made for an Overseas Missionary
Exhibition and film show.

Queen
Warrant
Officer George Meager, who is serving with the Royal Air Force and lives
in Linden Terrace, Pontefract, received from the Queen, on Tuesday, the M.B.E. awarded to him in the New Year’s Honours List. Tuesday’s was
the first of six investitures to be held in connection with the list.
Triple
Honours
At
a meeting of delegates of the Yorkshire Naval Associations, held at
Leeds on Saturday, Mr. W. Parkes, of the Pontefract Association, was
appointed Parade Marshall for the annual memorial service for the third
year in succession.
Youth and
Age
The
inmates of the Headlands Hospital, Pontefract, were entertained by the
Pontefract Youth Club Concert Party of the Central Methodist Church,
Pontefract, on Tuesday. The old people, who joined lustily in singing
old-time songs, enjoyed a programme of musical items and sketches.
Britain's
Secret Eyes
The
story of Radar was told by wartime ‘Boffin’ Mr. C.O. Williams, of
Leeds, to members of the Pontefract Round Table, at the Red Lion Hotel,
Pontefract on Tuesday. The Table Chairman, Mr. G.F. Potts, presided and
the speaker was thanked by Mr. J.E. Hartley.
