PONTEFRACT IN 1956

28th April 1956
Business With Pleasure

While returning from a pleasure trip to York on Sunday, members of the National Hospital Services Reserve gave first aid to an injured motorcyclist near Tadcaster and took him to the Castleford and Normanton District Hospital. At York they visited the Castle Museum and other places of interest, boated on the river, and enjoyed tea. The Area Committee arranged the outing.

Over Sixties Club

An ‘Over- Sixties’ Club was opened at the Micklegate Methodist Church, Pontefract, on Monday, when there was a happy gathering of people, and two guests from the W.V.S. - The County Organiser, Mrs G. Litchfield of Wakefield and the Regional Old People’s Welfare Officer, Miss A. Andrews. The club will be open on Monday afternoons.
