BATTLE OF BRITAIN WEEK
As part of the week's activities at
Pontefract, the local branch of the Royal Air Force Association held a
whist drive in the Gymnasium at the Barracks, Pontefract, on Friday. It
was arranged by the secretary, Mr. R. Gosney, of Ferrybridge, and Mr. F.
Jones, of Pontefract. The prizes were presented by Mr. C. Tait, and the
serving of refreshments was supervised by the treasurer, Mr. C. Wheldon.
About £3 was raised for the Association's funds.
Battle of Britain Sunday was observed at the
Pontefract Parish Church, when members of the local branch of the R.A.F.
Association led by the President, attended the service, which was
conducted by the Vicar, Canon R.G. Clarke, and a member of the
Association, Mr. R. Fisher, read a lesson.
