OVER 300 PEOPLE ATTENDED
Over 300 people attended the annual
Pontefract General Infirmary dance held in Wordsworth Ballroom, on
Friday, and organised by the Sports and Social Club. Mr. C. Killingbeck
was the M.C. Refreshments were served The proceeds were for club funds.
297th ANNIVERSARY
A holiday gift sale in the Pontefract
Congregational Church School on Saturday, was opened by Mrs N.B. Hood.
The stalls were in charge of women members of the church and
refreshments were served. The Minister, the Reverend H. Walker, offered
thanks to the helpers for an effort that raised £44-10s-0 for church
funds. On Sunday the 297th Anniversary celebrations were continued.
CAKE COMPETITION
A cake competition was held on Monday by the
Sisterhood of the Central Methodist Church, Pontefract, in the Church
Hall, and was won by Mrs G. Poppleton. Miss F.P. Marsh spoke to
the members and also entertained the company with a monologue and Mrs D.
Chambers sang solos. Refreshments were served.
