RESEARCHING MY FAMILY HISTORY
My
grandparents and my great grand parents used to live in Pontefract and I
am trying to gather information about them, and trying to go back even
further in time. This is not really easy, as I don’t really know where
to start. I have birth certificates for both my grandparents as well as
their marriage certificate but that’s all.
My
mum Eileen married a French man (my father) and has been living in
France for more than 40 years. Just in case it would be of any interest,
my grandfather, Joe Firth worked at the elementary school in the
thirties and married my grandmother Kathleen in 1931 in Pontefract. My
great grandfather Arthur Firth was a curator and my other great
grandfather Henry Johson was a carpenter. The first married Lilly
Mounsey, the second, Ann Maria Johnson. That’s about all I know. There’s
even a photograph of one of my great grandfather’s in a small book
about Pontefract that my Mum has at home.
