CAWOOD / ROBERTS FAMILY HISTORY

While attempting to trace my family tree I have been brought to Darrington.

My line is the Roberts, however, I find that James Robert Cawood (who later dropped the Cawood and became James Roberts) married Mary Limbert in Darrington in 1833 and they had a son William, born in Darrington around 1836.

I can't find any record of William's birth, or when James dropped his surname. It would appear that his father, also James Roberts, didn't marry his mother, Martha Cawood.

Any help, tips or advice would be appreciated as I am quite new to all this.
