HALL FAMILY HISTORY
I
am researching the HALL family in the Pontefract area.
I
have a Hannah and Edward Hall, who died around 1800 in Carleton. Edward
Hall was a maltster and his son Thomas was a Miller in Allerton Bywater
and his son John Hall was a merchant. They seemed to have owned quite a
few bits of property in the area. One transaction describes the sale of
the manor of Carlton.
One
grandson of Edward Hall was John Hall born in Allerton Bywater around
1814. He married Mary France, daughter of Thomas France, a wine and
spirits dealer in Selby (and also a property owner in the area).
Their son Edward Valentine Hall, born Feb. 14, 1840 is my great
grandfather.
I
would love to find out more about the family and the Pontefract area. I
believe Thomas Hall may have married someone named Margaret and had a
son Thomas. According to Thomas Hall' s will dated in 1848 he was
living in the Pontefract area.
