PONTEFRACT KING'S SCHOOL SONG
Written by Frank Forrest
Set to Music by Eric Holden
Sing of the King's School, Pontefract,
Laid on Foundations old,
Built of four stalwart houses,
Red, silver, blue, and gold;
Blue and gold for governors twain,
Red for an English King,
Silver for a Norman baron; of these
We Sing, Sing, Sing.
Four square stand those houses sure,
Firm to right the wrong,
Striving as friendly rivals
But joined in union strong.
Far and wide our fellowship,
And our song goes on the wing,
Linking Pomfretians everywhere
We Sing, Sing, Sing.
Gold for the wealth the School has brought,
Silver for sterling true;
Red for the fire of ardour,
And courage in steely blue;
In gym, on field, in class-room
Our Yorkshire voices ring;
We'll strive our best and play the game
And Sing, Sing, Sing.
The path that we will follow now,
Steadfast, staunch and bold,
Will lead to great achievements
Red, silver, blue, and gold.
In age as old as the Castle,
In heart as young as the Spring,
Into the future forth we'll march
And Sing, Sing, Sing.
