SUPERB STEAM TRAIN PHOTOGRAPHS
ADDED 19 FEBRUARY 2006
As
entered in our visitor book
What
a Great site! I lived in Chequerfield until I was sixteen and have
many fond memories of Pontefract. I remember digging for Liquorice root
as a boy behind Willow Park School and watching the steam trains go by
over Grove Town bridge whilst buying sweets in Ewebanks. Thank you who
ever put this site together, I have just spent two hours looking at the
old black and white photographs - the steam train pictures were
superb.
I
recently revisited School Road where I lived in the seventies. and was
shocked to see the house I lived in now had a pitched roof, it was flat
in my day. Anyway just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work and
effort that must have gone into this. By the way, does anyone remember
Chequerfield Hospital? it was derelict when I was a boy but we had great
fun exploring the building. I cant find any information about it, but I
clearly remember walking through the wards as a child with my mates
coming across these strange hospital things that were still in there, it
was a bit spooky to be honest. Okay, thanks again and please keep this
site going - I for one will be a regular visitor.
