THE CRANKY PIN
ADDED 23 MARCH 2006
When
I lived in Pontefract as a child, ‘Cranky Pin’ was the name given to
the then derelict triangle of land where Carleton Glen housing estate
now stands. I used to play there with my friends and it could be
accessed from Carleton Road, Swan Hill, Mayors Walk and Slutwell
Lane.
At
the time during the 1950s and 1960s – there were many remnants of the
derelict pig sty’s used by among others, my dad, Gerald Barry, during
the Second World War.
