THE HAVEN, LINDEN TERRACE, PONTEFRACT

I would like to know if anyone has any recollections of The Haven Mother & Baby Home on Linden Terrace, Pontefract, as I spent my first six months there with my mother before I was adopted and went to live with my new parents in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

My mothers name was Kathleen Cave and the name on my birth certificate is Gareth Cave born May 1957. As far as I know my mother spent about nine months there.

Today I went back there for the first time in fifty years to see what it looked like and more importantly to see if it was still there. I asked a passer by and she pointed out the house at the top of Linden Terrace as what she remembers as the Haven.

I have gone on to find out that I have a brother and two sisters but unfortunately my mother Kathleen died three years ago.

Any snippets of information will be very useful.
