South of Baghill, Pontefract
The
picture above, taken circa 1960, shows a view I took on countless other
occasions during the previous decade. On the right is Pontefract South
Signal Box with Baghill station behind. On the skyline just to the left
of the locomotive is Micklegate Methodist Church which was burnt down
not long after this photograph was taken.The subject of the picture is
one of those frequent Saturday morning summer holiday trains running
between the Yorkshire Coast resorts and the Midlands, although this
