South of Baghill, Pontefract

The subject of this photograph is again the Cardiff – Newcastle train which passed through Pontefract about 2.30pm but this time photographed on a winters afternoon from the northern side of the tracks. To the left of the locomotive can be seen part of Grovetown as it used to be. 
The pub on the corner advertises ‘Hammond’s Tower Ales’ but I can’t recall the name of the pub. Circa.1957. ♠ P. Cookson
