North of Baghill, Pontefract

This is the view looking west from the path that runs between Atkinson Lane and Cobbler’s Lane.
The subject of this picture is an East Coast excursion from the Mexborough area hauled by a B1 Class locomotive no. 61166. Behind the locomotive and the first three coaches is the former CWS Fellmongering factory (known as the Skinyard) while to the right is the unmistakable tower of All Saints’ Church.
In the centre background, on the skyline, can be seen the Town Hall and the tower of St. Giles’s church. The Baghill road bridge is in the left background.
