North of Baghill, Pontefract
In
1956 Atkinson Lane was a pleasant country walk but it has now been
largely built up, though the bridge still looks much the same.
With only 1/200 sec. shutter speed available to me the choice of a
passenger train as a subject was not very suitable – it would have
been better to choose a slow goods but I just about got away with it
without too much blur. The train is the 12.43pm York-Bristol which left
Pontefract about 1.20pm and was hauled on this occasion by a
former LMS Jubilee Class locomotive no. 45651 ‘Shovell’, named after
a former Admiral of the Fleet.
