This view of the early evening Goole-Wakefield train is taken from a point between the Wakefield and Leeds lines and shows something of the trackwork. It was here in 1903 that the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway planned a large new station to replace the existing one. Although land was purchased for the scheme it was never implemented, but the idea has been resurrected in connection with the present Urban Renaissance initiative and the re-development of the Prince of Wales site.
