The 5.35pm Leeds-Knottingley train is shown here having just passed over the level crossing on a summer evening in 1957. The locomotive is of some interest as one of a handful of rebuilds of a rather poor design by William Stanier for the LMS railway. The re-boilering of the original design did little to enhance their mediocre performance and they spent their time in the main on undemanding duties such as this. Peter Cookson
