This picture was taken with the train straddling the common boundary between Pontefract and Castleford. The locomotive and brake-van are in Pontefract and the wagons and second brake-van are in Castleford. The boarded level crossing marks Parkfield Lane and still exists, but the background of Glasshoughton Colliery and the Coke Ovens has now been transformed into Xscape and Freeport. The subject of the picture is again the ‘Geordie’, a working explained previously.  Photo Peter Cookson.
