The vantage point of this picture was a short distance to the east of the A639 bridge; it is now somewhere on the up platform of the new Tanshelf Station. Note the bridge as it was before the road widening of the 1970’s with its turrets and crenellations. The train was a regular empty stock working from Wakefield to Knottingley to form a Saturdays only Knottingley-Wakefield passenger train later in the afternoon. The locomotive is an Ivatt Class 2 2-6-2T No 41252.  Photo Peter Cookson.
