<previous image Around Tanshelf next image> Although most of the selected pictures feature passenger trains, this is what the line was really about – the movement of goods and minerals. One mid-morning train I photographed many times was the Brighouse-Goole goods which is shown here clanking through the station on its way to Monkhill where it was booked to stop. Note the extension of the platforms at a point roughly opposite the locomotive tender, noticeable because of the difference in platform height. The gas-lamps have also been reconfigured using the original standards. The signalman’s car – a Jaguar saloon – is parked at the end of the goods yard road. Photo Peter Cookson. Peter
