Pontefract Tanshelf Station

Although I cannot be entirely certain, it is very likely that this is the Knottingley - Wakefield train referred to in the previous photograph, and taken later that same morning but looking in the opposite direction towards the station buildings. The locomotive is basically of the same design as the previous one but is the tank engine version as distinct from the tendered version. Originally, the L.M.S. Railway differentiated their classifications as 2F and 2P to indicate freight and passenger usage but this was later abbreviated to 2 without distinction. The locomotives are 46437 and 41251.  Peter Cookson.
