MINES RESCUE TEAM

John William Colley Malpass was my Grandfather. He was born in 1886 in Staffordshire and started work at the Prince of Wales Pit in 1900/01 at the age of 14. His father also worked at the pit. During the 1920s – early 1930s he was involved in a very bad accident there - a roof fall I believe, which left him unable to return to work. I don’t know if this is a photograph of the team who rescued him or if the man first left on the back row is a family member possibly named Colley as we have other photographs of him.
