AFTERNOON TEA AT ROGERTHORPE MANORThe photograph shows (left to right) Leo Robson, Mrs Marshall, Mrs Gwen Priestley, Mrs L. Robson and Mr. Dick Priestley, with his trademark cigar. The empty seat in-between Mrs Marshall and Mrs Priestley belonged to Mrs. Marshall’s husband Alan, the owner of Wilkinson’s Liquorice Works, who was presumably taking the photograph. The photograph was taken at Rogerthorpe Manor during the late 1960’s and gives a glimpse into leisure time in those days amongst the more affluent classes. Rogerthorpe Manor was a private member club at the time, owned and managed by Mr. and Mrs Tinsdale Photograph submitted by Norman Blackburn Photograph added 24 June 2006 |
