Down at the Liquorice Works

This photograph is of an old Pontefract Confectionary firm taken in 1891. The photograph shows employees of Gundhill's Liquorice Works, (now Dunhill's - Haribo), in Front Street. It was sent to us by Mrs Jean Wood (nee Hawley), born in Pontefract but now living in North Yorkshire. The photograph features her Grandparents when they were courting.
Mr. Charles Lindley is on the front row, extreme right. His wife to be, Miss Elisa Heseltine, is on the second row, third right. They were married three years later in 1894. They lived in King Street, off Love Lane, Pontefract, which is where Mrs Wood was born.
