There's nothing unusual or highly commendable about publishing a website
these days. Within a matter of minutes and with a couple of clicks
of a mouse button you can have your own space on the Internet and begin
putting forward your own personal point of view. What is unusual,
in light of my more recent experiences, is that there are still a small
minority of people dedicated to producing something that can be shared
and enjoyed among the local community. Despite the fact that I have
discovered it can prove to be an unrewarding experience, on behalf of
the people who have done so much for the local community over recent
times, often with little or no recognition whatsoever, I dedicate this
website to them in the hope that their contributions can be acknowledged
for generations to come.
This is my own area of the Pontefract website
through which I would like to express my own views and opinions and
offer my appreciation to those people who have supported me over recent
years and whose own personal efforts in documenting our past have
enabled this website to become the primary source of reference for the
town of Pontefract in West Yorkshire.
