WAKEFIELD'S NEW CITY
AND TOWN CENTRE MANAGEMENT TEAM
15 FEBRUARY 2006
From the WMDC Press and Communications Office
Wakefield
Council is pleased to introduce its new City and Town Centre Management
Team.
The
team is led by Pauline Foster, who has joined from Leeds City Council. She
has considerable experience of regeneration and City and Town Centre
Management. Pauline has already recruited several new members to the team as
it continues to grow.
Working
with the Council and partners, the team will focus on sustainable
improvements to create safer, cleaner, more attractive and inclusive city
and town centres where people want to live, work and visit.
It
also aims to increase footfall to build more viable businesses and improve
public areas by constructing well-lit, easily accessible public places. To
do this they will take a lead on the refurbishment of public squares and
spaces, improving and maintaining street furniture and floral displays,
achieving maintenance and cleansing standards and marketing the city to
investors, residents and visitors.
Team
members include: Rob Matley, Deputy City and Town Centre Manager; Eric Hill,
Investment Manager; Beverley Macmillan, Marketing and Communications
Manager; Christine Beever, Services Co-ordinator; Jane Brown, Assistant
Services Co-ordinator; Becci Erbillur, Assistant Project Co-ordinator;
Janice Hertzberg, Administration Officer.
Two
Partnership Managers and a Project Manager are still to be recruited.
Cabinet
member for regeneration Councillor Phil Dobson said: "This is a time
when there are big changes happening in the district and this team will be
able to capitalise on the good things in the area and tackle any problem
issues head on.
"I
am confident the team will meet any challenges to ensure the district
provides attractive environments for investment and a place where people
want to live and work. Pauline's extensive experience and background in
regeneration will really help lead the enthusiastic team and they will all
contribute to the success of the City and Town centres."
