
DRIVER TRAINING SAFETY COURSE IN ITS 12th YEAR

A
Pontefract man has been thanked for his work with young drivers by Wakefield
Council.
Brian
Chappell set up a young driver training course in 1994 to encourage road
safety.
Sue
Wilson, from the Council's Travel Awareness Team, said: "Brian's course
has gone from strength to strength in the last 12 years. The Council has
always tried to support Brian and we would like to extend a special thank
you to him for giving up his free time delivering the course. He
deserves recognition for his efforts and his utter dedication into educating
young drivers."
There
is a similar Young Driver Course, run by the Travel Awareness Team, which
covers practical training and theory test. It is run in partnership with the
Police, WYMAS and the Driving Standards Agency.
Jane
Stark, Travel Awareness Secondary Education Officer, is currently running
courses at Minsthorpe Community College, St Wilfred's Catholic High School,
Ossett Technology College, Hemsworth Arts and Community College, Wakefield
College and Silcoates School.
