MAYOR AND MAYORESS ENTERTAIN REGIONAL DIGNITARIES
From the WMDC Press and Communications Office
Civic
heads from across the region have been invited to meet Wakefield District's
Mayor and Mayoress.
Representatives
from voluntary, charity and local organisations from neighbouring
authorities, including those across West and South Yorkshire, will also be
among the 300 expected guests.
Wakefield
District Mayor Cllr David Hopkins and Lady Mayoress Mrs Brigid Hopkins are
hosting their second 'At Home' event at the town hall on Saturday April
29th.
Cllr
David Hopkins said: "Having made many visits throughout the year, we
want to return the hospitality. We have invited representatives from the
organisations whose events we were privileged to attend."
He
added: "Members of the public are also welcome to attend and we are
very much looking forward to meeting as many local citizens as possible. We
see it as a good opportunity to promote the civic profile of the district
and the many local organisations which do so much good in the
community."
Guests
are invited to tea in the Kingswood Suite and musical entertainment in the
Old Court Room, and can arrive anytime between 1pm and 4pm.
Organisations
invited include parish councils, the Samaritans, Wakefield Harriers,
Wakefield Society for the Blind, Friends of Wakefield Theatres, civic
