YOUR CHILDS EDUCATION NEEDS YOU
OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP NEW SKILLS
From the WMDC Press and Communications Office
An
opportunity to develop new skills and an understanding of education are
among the benefits of being a school governor.
Wakefield
council is calling all adults across the district to help take an interest
in the future generation's education. A governor is a huge part of the
community, taking on major decision such as issues regarding school uniform,
which teachers to employ and how the school shall function.
No
previous experience or qualifications are required, just good common sense
and commitment to the school and the interests of the children. Full
training and support are provided and the Council has a scheme for time off
from work to carry out any responsibilities during the working day.
There
are vacancies in most parts of the District and particularly at:
-
Redhill
Junior School (Castleford);
-
Sharlston
Primary School (including the unit for pupils with visual impairments);
-
Throstle
Farm Junior and Infant School (Knottingley);
-
Wakefield
District Community School (for secondary pupils with emotional,
behavioural and social difficulties and secondary pupils excluded
permanently from other schools).
