PROPOSED CONSERVATION AREA IN PONTEFRACT
PUBLIC CONSULTATION

From the WMDC Press and Communications Office

Wakefield's citizens will have the chance to look at plans for a proposed conservation area in Pontefract.

A display for public consultation will show the results of an appraisal and anticipated management guidelines for the proposed site at The Mount.

Government guidelines require the Council to carry out appraisals and produce a management plan for all the district's conservation areas.

Wakefield Council's Planning Service Director Ian Thomson said: "The need to clearly explain the character of these areas is a basic requirement in seeking to influence future work to preserve and enhance a conservation area. We look forward to hearing the views of the public on what makes the area special and how it can best be looked after."

The public display is at St Joseph's School, Love Lane, on Thursday May 11 from 5-8pm.  Alternatively, further information is available from the Council's Conservation Officer, Louise Richardson on 01924 306583.
