CHILDREN'S INFORMATION
 SERVICE WINS TOP AWARD

Wakefield District Children's Information Service (CIS) has received a prestigious quality award.

The Matrix Standard is a quality award and is presented for the delivery of information, advice and guidance.

Cabinet Member for Children and Young People Wayne Jenkins said: "This is a real achievement for the CIS and a testament to the hard work of everyone who works in the service - they should be extremely proud as they consistently work hard to deliver first class service and deserve to have their efforts recognised.

"It is fitting that as the Council moves towards fulfilling its duty under the Childcare Bill 2008 to provide information on childcare and related services that the CIS has taken the lead by demonstrating that Wakefield is already well placed to meet and exceed this requirement."

A Matrix Standard assessor interviewed people involved in the delivery and use of the information and advice and guidance offered. This included employees, management, partners involved in providing the service or support and about 20 clients.

CIS found out they had met the standard immediately after the assessment and was given praise on several areas of good practice including:

  • A team committed to the overall objectives of the service with clients at the focus.

  • Its practical and pragmatic approach to continuous improvement.

  • Its client focus and drive for accuracy and impartiality.

The CIS can be contacted on freephone 0800 587 8042.
