USE YOUR LIBRARY TO IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH

Advice on health, diet and exercise will be on offer in Wakefield Council's local libraries during Heart Week (5-9 June).

Council library staff, Healthy Transport and Five-a-Day teams have joined forces with the Eastern Wakefield and Wakefield West's Primary Care Trusts to run a series of health boosting drop-in sessions.

They will offer blood pressure and waist size checks, along with information on healthy diets and exercise and offer access to an interactive healthy living CD.

Library sessions are at: Sandal Tuesday 6 June 10am to noon; South Elmsall, Friday 9 June, 10 am to noon.

Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council's Cabinet Member for Culture said: "By having a healthy diet and taking more exercise we can improve our health. Now we have the opportunity to learn more about this at our local libraries."

Anita Hatfield, Director of Public Health for Wakefield Primary Care Trust, said: ""Early diagnosis of many illnesses means reducing the risk of serious complications so it is important that people are well informed. We hope that as many people as possible will come along to the sessions."
