Planning work to ensure Wakefield Council's services run smoothly in the event of an emergency has been recognised with a top national award.
Emergency Planning Team member Wayne Harrop picked up the award for Public Sector Business Continuity Manager of the Year, against competition from local authority teams countrywide. The awards are sponsored by Continuity Insurance and Risk Magazine and were this year held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
Wakefield Council's Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, Graham Stokes said: " This is a well deserved award for a committed and highly skilled team. Wakefield was told at the awards event that it is 'streets ahead' in this field of work - an achievement to be really proud of. Local people can rest assured their services are in the safest of hands should an emergency happen."
