YOUNG PEOPLE GET SMART

Wakefield is hosting the Smart Risk show next week to make young people aware of everyday dangers.

The show aims to make people think before they take risks and shows them the reality of living with disabilities caused by sports injuries, car crashes, dangerous pursuits, or just messing around.

It is funded by The Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Health Authority and is at the following schools:

Crofton High School on Tuesday June 20, Freeston Business and Enterprise College on Wednesday June 21, Castleford High School on Thursday June 22 and Kettlethorpe High School on Friday June 23.

Smart Risk is open to the whole schools and about 4,000 kids aged 11-15 will see it.

Wakefield Council's Travel Awareness Officer Jane Stark is co-ordinating the event. She said: "The show combines a multi-image sound and light show and an injury survivor will speak candidly about how injury has changed their life. Anyone will benefit from this dynamic performance from real people and every person will be able relate to what they are saying - which is to prevent injury before it happens."
